Technology Laboratory and Professional Development Center (TLAB) cordially invites you to an open house in celebration of the opening of its new center on November, 18, 2010 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Detroit World Outreach (DTW) located at 23800 W. Chicago, Redford, Michigan.

TLAB is a faith-based, non-profit, accelerated learning center that is producing exceptional achievement, especially among urban students. We take the limits off what a child can learn, especially in reading, math and the language arts using data-driven technology programs.

At TLAB, students work with an experienced tutor online or in our facilities to develop an individualized course of study. The software applications TLAB uses are designed to make continual assessments of the student’s progress and benchmark achievement on a regular basis. Our goal is that students successfully complete three academic course loads (or grades) of math, reading, writing and language each year.

The program is working. The more than 300 students currently enrolled in T-LAB from Detroit, southeastern Michigan and several states across the country are acquiring the academic and leadership skills they need to be successful.

This event will give you an opportunity to view first hand our innovative educational model that is responsible for our students advancing as much as three grade-levels in one year, and realizing gains as much as 30 percent on ACT scores.

You will enjoy a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities, as well as a demonstration of our virtual classrooms; a key component to our ability to reach so many students. You will also be able to visit our premier laboratory and see how we are shifting the paradigm and delivering education without walls. In addition, we are pleased to welcome national civil rights legend Rev. Dr. C.T. Vivian will join us for the evening.
